Wessex Trauma Network is the NHS organisation providing oversight to ensure that the care of patients sustaining traumatic injuries in the Wessex region receive the best possible care.

Hospitals

Major Trauma Centre

WTN has a combined Adult and Paediatric Major Trauma Centre hosted by the University Hospital Southampton (UHS). Major
trauma centres are specialist hospitals responsible for the care of
patients with major trauma across a region.

Trauma Units

There are 6 Trauma Units within the WTN . Trauma units are
hospitals that receive patients with major trauma who need
resuscitation or stabilisation before transfer to the major trauma
centre.

Local Emergency Hospitals

There are 2 Local Emergency Hospitals with in the network that do not routinely take trauma cases, but are able to if necessary.

Pre Hospital Services

Wessex Trauma Network is predominantly served by 3 NHS Ambulance Trusts and 2 Air Ambulance Charities:
