Professor Peter Thomas
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Royal Stoke University Hospital

Professor Peter Thomas is the senior trauma orthopaedic surgeon at the University Hospital of North Midlands, Stoke-on Trent, the largest and busiest level-one trauma center in Britain. He specialises in hand surgery, limb reconstruction and the treatment of complex fractures.

He and his research team have done pioneering work on the mechanics of fracture healing, developing devices for the treatment of tibial fractures. The Staffordshire Orthopaedic Reduction Machine, or STORM, is now used in many parts of the world, while over 400 tibial fractures have been successfully treated with the IOS fixator. He is presently developing an external fixator that transmits detailed information on fracture healing to the treating surgeon.


Professor Jane Burridge PhD
Visiting Professor of restorative neuroscience

Jane Burridge is Emerita Professor of Restorative Neuroscience at the University of Southampton. Her research is about using technologies to improve recovery of movement following acquired brain damage. Jane is interested in understanding the mechanisms associated with loss and recovery of motor function. Recently she has led work into the development of guidelines on the use of Functional Electrical Stimulation and on functional assessment, especially how restoration of function can be distinguished from compensation. Her work crosses traditional rehabilitation boundaries; collaborating with engineers, neuroscientists and psychologists.

Dr Michael Shenouda

Michael is an industry leader and surgeon with over 15 years of experience in healthcare including positions in both the public and private sectors. Through his experience, he has developed an in-depth knowledge of the corporate, technological and financial challenges in the digital health industry, including understanding the complex stakeholder landscape.

He has worked closely with healthcare providers, clinical teams, academic research institutions, and patient support groups to help develop and optimise digital health solutions that improve patient care. He believes in working collaboratively with both the public sector and industry partners, fostering relationships that promote innovation in the sector. He is currently the Vice Chair of ABHI Digital Health group.

As a board-level executive director of a digital health enterprise, he has overseen its growth from start-up to market-leading platform and consultancy service, combining a passion for digital product development with his clinical experience to help drive digital transformation in healthcare.

At present, his research interests are in innovative healthcare technology and clinical patient pathways, promoting data-driven healthcare and ensuring digital solutions are supported by robust evidence generation. He has developed excellent strategic, leadership, interpersonal and collaborative skills from experiences and achievements as a leader, doctor, educator and researcher, with a progressive focus on corporate strategy in digital health.


Mr Mike Burns

Mike Burns is the Aidoc UK & Ireland Business Director. He has worked in medical devices for over 12 years, 7 of which have been in radiology. He is passionate about cutting-edge medical technology that has the power to help the NHS overcome the challenges it faces and improve patient outcomes. Aidoc has a focus on the triage and notification of acute, life-threatening and time-sensitive pathologies on CT images many of which have applications in trauma imaging.

Dr Allan Andi

Dr Allan Andi is a Consultant Radiologist working at Everlight Radiology and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in London. He graduated from the University of Leicester and after completing surgical training moved to London to undertake specialist and sub-speciality training in Radiology at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals. He has a long history committed to undergraduate medical education and is an active Honorary Senior Lecturer and academic tutor at Imperial College London. His expert knowledge in the utilisation of low dose CT in the detection of intracorporeal contraband has lead to him developing national guidelines with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, setting protocols in collaboration with UK Border Force that have been implemented by organisations in close proximity to major international airports.  He has capable skills in several programming languages and endorses the efficiency gains connected systems may achieve for the good of patients. He is a Clinical Director at Everlight Radiology, a teleradiology provider enabling the delivery of proficient emergency, urgent and routine diagnostic reports on a 24/7 basis, where he works closely with the Global Medical Director within the Medical Leadership Council to strengthen clinical governance and the delivery of quality radiology education via Everlearning, a unique free-to-access learning platform developed by Everlight Radiology.
