About

The Wessex Trauma Network was established in 2011 in preparation for the national roll out of Major Trauma Networks in 2012. They were created to improve the care of all critically injured patients. It is classed as an Operational Delivery Network (ODN) under the SE Region of NHSE/I but it has constituent parts from the SW Region as well. It incorporates 9 hospitals and spans from Portsmouth in the East, Isle of Wight in the South, Dorchester in the West to Basingstoke in the North.

The Team

The strength of the network is the involvement of committed senior clinicians in each of the constituent parts whether that is the ambulance services, hospitals or rehabilitation facilities. They are supported taken from all parts of the network that are hosted by the Major Trauma Centre at University Hospital Southampton.
